Why We Help
Over 200,000 women and men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the United States. Thousands of those patients live in NH and ME combined and a large percentage reside right here in the Greater Seacoast area.
Research is a critical component to ending breast cancer, but research does little to aid the anxiety of a patient who is currently going through treatment.
Studies show that more than half of cancer patients may suffer from distress ranging from normal feelings of vulnerability and sadness to extreme, disabling anxiety and panic. Concerns include how well they will cope with illness and treatment and how to pay their bills.
While it may not be surprising that cancer can prompt distress, what is striking is that distress can interfere with the body's immune system and have a negative impact on the course of the disease.
We are here to lend a hand, to ease a patient's discomfort, and to help take the day-to-day stress out of their lives so they can focus their energy on getting WELL.
“My Breast Cancer Support is growing in support & recognition from businesses and people of the Seacoast. I am proud to be associated with you and your wonderful organization. Hats off to you for your time, love, and devotion to this important cause that benefits so many lovely women who deserve so much but ask for little.”
